Creating a More Inclusive Workplace and Society

Ascend formed Ascend ACT, a multifaceted approach on racial equity, to create a safe environment for discussion of race relations and inequalities that impact us personally and in the workplace.  Pan-Asian leaders have a role to play and through the ACT dialogues and working sessions, grounded in the joint 5-Point Action Agenda, and the ACT Survey, we are taking immediate actions to:

  • Increase awareness, understand the community and become more educated about racism and bias

  • Become conversant in discussions about race, equality, equity, injustice

  • Find and use our voice in the workplace and beyond to promote inclusion and denounce bias

  • Build allies and become a good ally

  • Engage and participate; not be a complacent bystander

The aim of the ACT Survey is to gather data and derive insights that facilitate these goals. Recognizing the specific Pan-Asian cultural norms and immigrant mindset shape many of the beliefs and behaviors, this survey and our ACT dialogues will support and empower the community to be more race conversant and fluent, explore ally relationships, assert their voice to combat systemic bias and become a visible force for building a more diverse and inclusive workplace and society.

The goals of Ascend ACT are to:

•Create safe space race-oriented conversations locally and nationally (US & Canada)

•Build Awareness of Cross Generational, Intersectionality & be Impact oriented

•Highlight Pan-Asian workforce perspectives & experiences

•Change the dialogue – Pan-Asians as solutions creators

•Produce insights & data as catalyst for companies to focus actions & investments
