Members In Career Transition (MIT) - Virtual Office Hours

Join us for: Saving Face, Saving Self—Protecting Your Mental Health Between Chapters

Between roles, under-inspired, or quietly considering a pivot? Join us for an honest, discussion-based hour on what a career transition brings up – the face-saving, the family expectations, the silence—and the practical tools to protect your wellbeing while you search.

You’ll leave with culturally grounded tools: language for talking to parents and relatives about where you are, a way to separate your family’s ledger from your own, a weekly operating rhythm that keeps the search from consuming your identity, body-first signals to watch for, and a resource ladder—from peer support to culturally matched clinicians—that meets you wherever you’re willing to start.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the three cultural pressures that make career transition distinct for our community—face and shame, filial obligation, and the model-minority / bamboo-ceiling bind—and recognize how each shows up in their own experience.

  • Interpret their own early warning signals, including the somatic signs our communities often notice first, using a simple weekly self-check.

  • Apply at least two culturally adapted coping tools, including scripted language for disclosing transition status to family, recruiters, and community without losing face.

  • Distinguish between situational distress and signs that warrant professional support, and locate at least one culturally responsive, low- or no-cost resource.

  • Commit to one specific, small wellbeing practice and one peer connection to sustain it beyond the session.

Who is this for?

  • Members between roles or recently laid off

  • Members employed but not thriving, or in a role that no longer inspires them

  • Members exploring a change of role, employer, function, or industry

  • Members supporting a partner, sibling, or adult child through any of the above

Come as you are. Cameras optional. This is a conversation, not a lecture – and you are not the only one in the room feeling this way.

Note: This session is peer education, not clinical care. The facilitator is not delivering therapy or diagnosis, and the materials are built so that no participant is ever asked to disclose more than they choose.

Time Zone: Eastern
