Ascend Greater Philadelphia 2026 IAG Vision
The Human Edge in the Age of AI
Artificial intelligence is transforming every industry. Yet beneath the conversation about productivity and technology sits a more fundamental question:
How do we leverage AI and emerging technologies to develop the human skills, behaviours, and judgment that help people, organisations, and communities thrive?
The most important ideas rarely emerge within a single industry, generation, or profession. They emerge when diverse experiences challenge one another, build trust, and create new ways of thinking. According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, employers expect 39% of workers’ core skills to change by 2030. The challenge is not only to prepare people for new technologies, but to help them lead, learn, collaborate, and adapt alongside them.
The problem we need to define
Across business, education, healthcare, government, entrepreneurship, and the nonprofit sector, people are experiencing the effects of AI differently—but many are facing the same deeper uncertainty: which human capabilities matter most, how do we develop them, and how do we make better decisions about people in an AI-enabled world?
IAG 2026 is designed to bring those perspectives into the same room. Before proposing solutions, we will define the real problems together: who is affected, what evidence matters, what assumptions we may be making, and what meaningful progress would actually look like.
What is the human edge in the age of AI—and how do we develop it?
The questions that will guide the breakouts
What is a burning problem today that affects human development in your workplace or community?
Which human capabilities are becoming more valuable as AI becomes more capable?
Which leadership capabilities have become more important because of AI?
What does good judgment look like when technology can provide almost every answer—and how do we measure it?
How do we identify potential beyond resumes, credentials, and experience?
What signals tell you someone will thrive in your organisation?
Which people decisions are still driven more by intuition than evidence?
How should organisations rethink learning as work continues to evolve?
Which human capabilities are becoming more valuable rather than less?
How do we create cultures where curiosity, experimentation, psychological safety, belonging, and trust can flourish?
What enables teams to innovate in environments of constant change?
What role do mentorship and community play in developing future leaders?
How do we move from dialogue to partnerships and practical action?
The experience
This will not be another conference about AI, nor a set of siloed panels. Participants will move between facilitated, cross-sector and cross-generational breakouts, executive roundtables, and shared synthesis.
Each conversation will follow the same discipline:
Name the problem clearly.
Hear how it appears across sectors and generations.
Identify the human capability or decision that matters most.
Surface practical experiments, partnerships, and next steps.
What participants will leave with:
A sharper understanding of the human-development problems that need attention
New relationships across sectors and generations
Practical ideas and experiments to take back to their organisations
Concrete partnerships, practical experiments, and commitments that continue long after the conference ends.
