Ascend NorCal Chapter Announces the 2016 Pan-Asian Leadership Award Honorees

SAN FRANCISCO – April 22, 2016 – In a milestone year for the Northern California Chapter of Ascend marking its 10th anniversary, it is taking a fresh approach in launching their 2016 - 2017 program year. The NorCal Chapter plans to recognize business and civic leaders for their achievements in promoting diversity at The Ascend Awards Gala held at the Four Seasons in San Francisco, CA on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. 

Ascend NorCal is proud to announce the Pan-Asian Leadership Award marquee honorees who will be celebrated at the Awards Gala:

· CEO Leadership Award — Loretta Doon, Chief Executive Officer, CalCPA

· C-Suite Leadership Award — Thuan Pham, Chief Technology Officer, Uber Technology, Inc.

· Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award — Erby Foster, Jr., Director of Diversity & Inclusion, The Clorox Company

· Public Sector Leadership Award — Fiona Ma, Chairwoman, California State Board of Equalization, District 2 

The Chapter also welcomes a noteworthy guest of honor, Richard Lui, MSNBC news anchor, NBC News who was the first Asian American male to anchor a daily, national cable news show in the U.S. Lui will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the evening and will moderate a panel discussion with the marquee honorees to share their ideas and perspectives on “Fostering diversity today for a better tomorrow.” Scholarship recipients from Ascend student chapters from UC Berkeley, UC Davis and San Francisco State will also be recognized.

 “We are looking forward to this very special night. We will honor these esteemed individuals for their outstanding work ethic in evolving diversity and inclusion initiatives. Their highly visible career achievements and altruistic spirit inspire our Pan-Asian Ascend community,” remarked Ajay Anand, President of Ascend Northern California Chapter.

The black-tie optional event is expected to draw public dignitaries and officials and senior representatives from top global firms in the San Francisco Bay Area including Ascend NorCal President’s Circle sponsors EY, Chevron and The Clorox Company. The organizations represented in the President’s Circle demonstrate the highest level of commitment and sponsorship support for Ascend and will be celebrated at an exclusive President’s Wine Reception. The elegant event will include a three-course dinner, live multicultural entertainment and dancing at the conclusion of the night.
